How To Become a Proactive Person
Want to be the person who makes it happen instead of waiting for it to happen?
Get ready for a life-talk 101 on how to become that person who goes and gets what they want every time.
It's all about YOU!
You have a support system of friends and family. They can give you as much advice as possible but at the end of the day, YOU make the decision for yourself. You have to put in the work to get what you want.
Surround yourself with people you who inspire you.
You are the average of your closest friends! You will notice their habits and fall into the same ones, most of the time. If they have proactive habits, you most likely will as well.
HABITS VS GOALS
Know the difference.
A habit is something that you do continuously. The sooner you begin developing good habits that will help you reach success (whatever success means to you) the better!
Examples of good habits:
- Waking up early
- Brushing & flossing twice a day
- Completing all the errands every Sunday morning.
- Calling close family weekly.
- Doing 1.5 hours of homework every night.
- Meditating for 10 minutes every day.
You get the idea.
On the other hand, goals are going to be something with an ending. You want to reach a goal and complete the task. Jot down a couple of goals for yourself and when you would like to complete them (maybe by the end of the year) depending on how big the goals are.
How to create goals for yourself; S.M.A.R.T Goals
This has been around for a long time but it's a great way to goal set!
S: Specific (know what you want)
M: Measurable (pick something you can quantify)
A: Attainable (you should be able to reach this goal)
R: Realistic (be honest with yourself)
T: Timely (make a timeframe to get it done)
Now for goals, you cannot just leave it at that. You MUST also write down specific things you will do to PROACTIVELY react the goal AKA edit your habits accordingly.
My personal resolutions/goals for 2018. My spelling isn't 100% I know don't worry about it.
Make it happen.
Stop procrastinating. Believe me, you will be blown away by how much you are able to do when you just do it.
The hardest part of making it happen is breaking current bad habits! Practice makes perfect, am I right? Like I already said, the sooner you develop the good habits, the closer you are to your goals and the closer you are to your success of being a proactive person!
Become a Problem Solver.
You will forever be running into problems. You can either a.) run away from them b.) resolve them and move on.
If you want to be proactive you need to be able to resolve any issues and carry on. If you run into something that is out of your control, aim your focus towards the things you can change. Ask for help when necessary, and do not settle.
Understand what you want.
Do you want to accomplish something so badly but have no idea where to even begin? Find someone else that is doing it/has done it. Look at their success and work backward. Following it step-by-step backward is one of the most effective ways to reach your goals.
Don't forget to reward yourself.
Once you start pursuing what you want, don't forget to look back and see how far you've come.
Chances are you are already an extremely successful person and just don't realize how many things you have accomplished thus far. Take a moment to acknowledge it and be proud of yourself.
This kind of thinking will create a positive mindset for yourself as you continue to move on and keep reaching your goals. It will only help you even more.
